Creative Energy And Powerful Speaking
Learning the ropes of managing our energy can really boost our communication skills. Recent research tells us that having a good dose of energy is pretty crucial for any organization to thrive. Folks with high energy levels tend to be more productive and creative, plus they bring a positive vibe to the table that rubs off on everyone else.
So, when we get our energy game on point, we’re setting ourselves up to unleash our full potential. It’s like fine-tuning our engine for maximum performance.
Our CEO & Founder, Jessica Chen, recently hosted a Soulcast Media | LIVE event on LinkedIn, where she interviewed International Keynote Speaker and bestselling Author of “Energize”, Simon Alexander Ong.
They shared tips and personal stories about creative energy and powerful speaking.
1. Energy
Energy comes in four dimensions – physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual. Understanding how we respond when our energy levels hit a slump can be a game-changer.
Consider the following
- Spiritual – Ever had that feeling like your spiritual energy tank is running on empty? It often happens when you’re stuck doing stuff that doesn’t align with your values or when you’re not in a supportive environment that lets your true potential shine through. It’s like this knot in your stomach, telling you that you’re going against your very grain. But, when your spiritual energy is soaring high, it’s a whole different ballgame. You’ll feel this natural flow because you’re engaged in work that sets your soul on fire. It’s like a magnetic force pulling you toward making things happen. You’re in sync with your true self, and that’s when the magic unfolds.
- Physical – When we dive into the realm of physical energy, we’re talking about three big pillars: sleep, nutrition, and movement. If you’re skimping on shut-eye, scarfing down junk food, and keeping your body glued to the couch, well, you’re setting yourself up for an energy nosedive. So, when you punch in at work, it’s no wonder you’re not feeling like a dynamo ready to conquer the world; you’re basically running on fumes and barely managing the bare minimum.
Mental – Mental energy is all about your focus, your mindset, and how well you can tap into your creativity. Your mindset shapes how you approach life’s challenges, your willingness to learn and adapt, and your overall outlook on personal growth and development. Cultivating a growth mindset can be particularly beneficial for achieving long-term success and well-being.
Emotional – Emotional energy is all about how you connect with yourself and those around you. Some folks even call it emotional intelligence. It’s like your superpower for understanding and navigating the emotional rollercoaster of life.
Our energy levels impact our productivity and how we handle stuff that comes our way. It’s important for us to figure out how to boost that energy dial.
2. Communications Energy
We’ve got this thing called communication energy, or speaking energy. It’s all about your knack for grabbing and holding onto people’s attention when you talk. Picture it as having this magnetic presence every time you open your mouth.
Consider the following:
- Intentional – Communications energy means being super deliberate and totally in the zone. It’s about making sure folks know you’re right there with them, hanging onto their every word, and showing that you’re fully engaged in the conversation. Take, for instance, making killer eye contact and really being mindful of how you’re using your tone of voice. That’s like the golden ticket to flaunting your communication energy.
- Influence – The way you talk to others has a massive say in how much influence you wield. When you’ve got the art of powerful communication in your toolkit, you can pretty much sway any audience you address. It’s like having this secret superpower of persuasion.
- Belief – A big piece of nailing effective communication is having faith in what you’re saying. It’s like a double sale going on – one where you’re convincing others about you, and the other, maybe even more important one, where you’re convincing yourself. Until you’ve got yourself sold on your own ideas and beliefs, selling them to others can be a bit of an uphill battle. Because when you truly believe in what you’re saying, your audience is way more likely to buy into it too. It’s like that trust-building magic in action.
Communication is one of the most important skills you can learn. And that’s why cranking up your communication game is absolutely critical for making it big in your career.
3. Energy Management
You know, exhaustion doesn’t always come from running around with a hundred things to do. It often sneaks in when we’re neglecting the stuff that makes our hearts do a happy dance. And it’s because we’re chasing someone else’s idea of success instead of what truly lights us up.
Consider the following:
- Busyness – A common trick our minds play on us is filling our days with all sorts of stuff just to avoid dealing with what really matters. It’s like we’re stuck in this loop, craving a jam-packed schedule to feel important, but deep down, we’re just running in circles, not making much progress. Here’s the twist, though: it’s not about figuring out how to be less busy. It’s about mastering the art of prioritizing like a champ. When something truly matters to you, you’ll find a way to make time for it.
- Prioritize – We’ve all used the “I’m too busy” excuse at some point to dodge what truly matters. But it’s high time we hit the brakes and have an honest chat with ourselves. What are our top-notch priorities? Here’s the deal: it’s all about getting ahead of the curve and being proactive. Know what’s going to pop up on your radar and plan your routines accordingly. Let’s say you’re on a mission to publish a book. It makes sense to block out the time just before and after to avoid distractions. That’s the secret sauce to making real progress on what counts.
- Best Effort – Trying to give 100% to every single thing in our lives all the time is a recipe for burnout. It’s not about hitting that 100% mark every day. The million-dollar question is this: “Am I giving my absolute best today?” What “giving our best” looks like can be a real chameleon. It’s a shape-shifter depending on our circumstances and the day we’re having. Some days, it might mean going all out, and other days, it’s about making the most out of what you’ve got. It’s all about adaptability.
- Elevate Energy – If you’re on a mission to boost your energy, you’ll want to give sleep priority. It’s the bedrock of your most productive days. Then, keep that body in motion, regularly. It’s like fueling up your energy tank. And speaking of fuel, make sure the food you’re eating is more like a power-up than a drain. Make sure you plan your day ahead the night before. It’ll transform your sleep into a high-quality one. Instead of tossing and turning with a head full of thoughts, you hit the hay with a clear mind. And when you wake up, you’re ready to go because you already know the game plan. No more squandering those precious, high-energy hours figuring out what to do. You’re all set to dive right in and own the day.
When it comes to being productive, it’s not so much about managing your time as it is about wrangling your energy. Your body is like a constant radio station, always sending signals. The real deal is, are you tuned in and actually listening to what it’s saying?
Keeping an eye on our energy and how it swings can be a total game-changer for making it big in your career.
