On Making Things Happen

Jessica – I often discuss rejection and how to cope with someone saying no to you. Right. And it’s interesting because I feel like no matter what, no matter how confident you feel, rejection isn’t fun.

There’s something to be said about just getting the stuff done.

And this is a reminder to anyone out there who might be holding themselves back because of a rejection or because something isn’t quite perfect. You have to ask yourself, why not you?  Why not you be the one to pitch that project? Why not you be the one to say that idea in the meeting? Why let somebody else say it?

You know, the person who’s saying that one thing doesn’t make them smarter than you, is just like, they’re just saying it first, but your idea might be even more brilliant. You have to believe in yourself.

On The Future Of Communications

Jessica – I would like to emphasize, and this is the missing part that I feel many people overlook. People need to learn how to communicate and build influence.

How do you like network with people? How do you talk about yourself so that you sound interesting, right? How do you build common ground with people? And these are things that are learnable.

Building influence is going to be one of the most important soft skills that you need to learn in this new age of AI, because AI can never build influence in that sense.
