On Quiet Achievers

Linda – What I’ve determined is that a quiet achiever is, first of all, derived from a high achiever. So, someone who throughout your life, you’ve probably been that top A+ student. You were instilled with the belief that as long as you work hard, you’ll get a good job and feel successful in life. And so we’ve been trained and programmed to believe this.

Quiet Achievers thrive on working hard. We thrive on getting results. We thrive on achieving our goals. At the same time, however, we are not necessarily extroverts.

We prefer to keep to ourselves. We don’t mind working in the background. We don’t necessarily have to be the center of attention for everything.

We can visualize ourselves holding these leadership positions or advancing in our careers. However, we don’t feel that they have the innate qualities to align with that. So there’s this disconnect.

On Inner Confidence

Linda –  You don’t have to be the loudest voice, but you do have to feel confident in who you are. And confidence doesn’t come from pretending. You’ve heard the phrase fake it till you make it, but I really don’t believe that. I feel that you have to embody it.

You’ve already made it because you’re embodying the version of yourself that already knows that you’re valuable, that you’re worthy, that you’re capable.

And so you’re able to open your mouth then and speak the words you want to speak, give your opinions, and share your ideas in meetings, in a thoughtful way rather than shying away and holding back.

It ultimately comes down to your inner confidence, energy, state of being, and self-perception.
